When you And Were Young 매기의 추억 - Foster & Allen 메기 클락은 1841년 7월에 캐나다 온타리오에서 태어났다. 그는 조지 죤슨이라는 청년으로부터 구애를 받는데 청년은 시인이 였으며토론토대학을 졸업하고 교편을 잡고 있었다. 곧 그들은 약혼을 한다. 허지만 그녀(메기)는 폐결핵에 걸리게되고 죠지가 이 시를 쓰게된 시기가 바로 그녀가 병마에 시달리던 때이다. 1864년 10월 그들은 결혼을 하지만 이듬해 그녀는 조지를 남겨두고 이 세상과 이별을 하게 된다. "죠지"는 미국 디트로이드에 사는 친구 JC 버터필드에게 이 아름답고도 슬픈 詩에 알맞는 멜로디를 붙여(작곡)줄 것을 부탁하는데 이 노래가 지금까지도 많은 사람들의 가슴을 저미게 하는 메기의 추억이다. ......
